Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace 3D opens in theaters next week. Dramedy Productions has a couple of Star Wars productions of its own (with a third on the way). The official Star Wars website now has an application called "Darth Maul Me," which allows faces to be changed into lookalikes of Lord Maul himself. So we decided to see what some of Dramedy's most famous characters would look like...DARTH MAUL-ISIZED! This is what you call cross-promotion!

Ral's rear end

Arkansas has a new three-letter combination for its license plates: RAL! Maybe the plates are in tribute to Ral Iney from Star Wars: Quest for Vengeance! After all, QFV was partially filmed in Arkansas, and Al Riney, the actor who played Ral Iney, was born and raised in Arkansas!

But something else to make you wonder about things is the plate on the car in the above picture. This plate was the first one we spotted with RAL on it. The plate says 390 RAL. Well, Al Riney turns 39 next month! Maybe this particular plate is an omen...that Al Riney will be reprising his role as Ral Iney in Star Wars: Beware the Dark Side...and he'll be doing it when he's 39 years old! Does that mean he'll be filming the part when he's 39...or does it mean he's already filmed the part and the movie will be coming out when he's 39? Hmmmm...

QFV Rough Cut 10th Anniversary Party!

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Rough Cut Premiere of Star Wars: Quest for Vengeance! In 2001, the movie was going to be finished and viewed at a party by the cast and crew. But between computer problems and not getting enough editing help from people who said they would, the movie was not going to be finished by the premiere date. But we wanted to get together and party anyway and see what the movie looked like so far, and so we did, as seen in the picture above! So to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the rough cut, we've decided to all get together again! Even the members of the cast and crew that didn't come the first time! Jon Boon's DC Heroes Role-Playing Game buddies to get their characters in on the big screen action!!

Vision Man was created in the early 1990s as a character to be played by Jon Boon in the DC Heroes Role-Playing Game. Jon's buddies also created their own characters to play in the game. Well, Jon's buddies have gotten jealous of the fame and fortune that Jon received after making a big-budget movie blockbuster about his character! So they've decided to make their own movies based on their own characters!! Jeremy McNutt is making a movie based on his character Darkshot, Al Riney is making one on his character Zetaman, and Ted Millikan will be flying high in a movie about his character, Lightning Hawk.

After the characters each star in their own own solo flicks, they are all going to appear in a movie together, banding together as a superhero team. Tracy Walters, who was the gamemaster in the original game-playing days, will appear as the team's benefactor, in a role similar to the character of Maxwell Lord from the Justice League International. ZZ Top to put Coruscant? on their next album

The rock band ZZ Top, featured for a split-second in Coruscant? playing their hit "Sharp Dressed Man," has agreed to put Coruscant? on their next album! They came across Coruscant? on YouTube and were surprised to hear their song in it. "We thought the parody was hilarious," the band said. "So we'd like to put it on our new album and keep all profits made from it. Otherwise, we'll sue your asses off." Dramedy Productions eagerly agreed to the arangement. The Clone Wars TV show gives Quest for Vengeance a shout-out!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars gave Quest for Vengeance a shout-out last week! The opening narration of last week's episode, "Monster," ends with the narator saying, "Deceived into believing the Jedi are behind the recent attack, Dooku has travelled across the galaxy to enlist the Nightsisters in his quest for vengeance." We knew Lucasfilm was watching our movies! Now, if in tonight's episode of The Clone Wars someone says to beware the dark side, we're really gonna flip!

While sorting through the Dramedy Productions stuff in storage yesterday, this light was found:

It's been in storage for years and years, probably since the mid-1990s. I think it was given to us by Al Riney. If not Al, then it probably came from Ted Millikan or Jeremy McNutt. Anyway, Al (I think) gave it to us to use as lighting for the movie set, apparently. (I don't think it was going to be used to help light up a chroma key screen, though, because that probably wasn't on our radar at the time.) Anyway, it doesn't look to be too safe for consumption, what with it being jury rigged and taped up and all that stuff. So in order to keep from burning the joint down, it's going to join Ted's frames in the big junkyard in the sky! (But unlike with Ted, we're not giving Al a medal for this one...)

Teddy made awesome chroma key screen frames...but they had to go...

A few years ago, we decided to start using chroma key in our productions. So ole Teddy was tasked with the job of building the frames to hold the screen. Well, make them he did...and did a very good job with them, to boot!

There was only one problem with them, though...they couldn't be stored easily, because they couldn't be broken down. Later on, a professional frame was bought, one that could be disassembled and stored easily.

We still held onto the old Teddy frames for a long time, though, thinking that we might use them to hold lights to shine on the chroma key screen. However, it was decided in the end that they were just too big and bulky to keep. So this past Sunday, they were sent to that great scrap heap in the sky!

But Ted, you did a great job, and for that, we give you the Dramedy Productions' Medal of Carpentry. It gets you free future building materials from Lowe's anytime! (Just make sure that you go to the Lowe's in Dyersburg, TN...we got a guy there that'll set you up.)

Vision Man: Eye Contact's official movie poster finally printed at 27x40 inches...and given to Vision Man for his wedding!

Vision Man: Eye Contact was released with a 27x40 inch official movie poster, just like all good movies should. Except...it was never printed out at that size. At the time of the movie's release, I (Tracy) looked into actually getting one printed out and putting it on display. However, at the time, the printing services I looked into were a little pricey.

Flash forward four years to the wedding of Vision Man himself, Jon Boon. I have a cool idea as to what Scott, Ted, and I can get Jon for his wedding: the Vision Man poster...printed at full size! I'm thinking that maybe the prices have come down in four years, or that maybe I can just find someplace that wasn't so expensive...and sure enough, I did! So Ted, Scott, and I go in together and order Jon the poster. (Of course, I have to get one for myself, too.) We plan to give it to Jon on March 27, 2010, the day of his wedding reception.

Well, March 27 arrives...but there's no poster! Turns out UPS lost it during shipping! So the two posters have to be reprinted and re-shipped...but, alas, not in time for poor ole Jon's special day. So Jon is just told that he has a special gift that's coming, but that it got lost in the mail, so he'll just have to wait!

The reprinted posters were delivered on April 13, but it took another two months before everyone finally agreed to get together. So on June 21, we actually got together, and voila...Jon got his poster! He hung it up, and here's how it looks:

So there you have it! One mystery remains, though....what happened to the original posters that were lost in the mail? It's been over three months now, and they've never arrived. Hmmm...maybe we need to keep an eye out on eBay...

Coruscant? to be played on radio stations worldwide

Coruscant? is headed to a radio near you! That's right, it has been such a big hit, that radio stations around the world are about to start playing it! And it won't be talk radio that plays it, or AM radio that plays it, it's going to be played on the big-time FM stations that play regular music! That's right, you could be listening to the radio one day, jamming to the likes of Aerosmith, or Tim McGraw, or Right Said Fred, and then all of a sudden BAM!...there's Coruscant?! One minute you're listening to Kiss sing about Heaven being on fire, the next minute you listen to Carrie Underwood sing about trashing some dude's car, and then the next minute you hear Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi giving each other the what for! Quest for Vengeance to be re-shot in its entirety

Since we didn't use much bluescreen, or greenscreen, or whatever, in Quest for Vengeance, we weren't able to remove the plain backgrounds in the movie and put in backgrounds that would have been suitable, such as the interior of the Scarlet Speedster, or the interior of the Dice Club. Instead, this required the audience to use their imagination to see these backgrounds based on what was going on in the scene. But, in order to pander to the audience, we have decided to just reshoot the whole damn movie, this time using greenscreen, so that we can show you exactly what you've been missing all these years. Beware the Dark Side and Revenge of the Jedi to be combined into one mega-movie

As everyone knows, Beware the Dark Side is the second movie in the Scar Destroyers trilogy, and Revenge of the Jedi will be the third and final movie. Well, since Beware the Dark Side still isn't finished yet, we have decided to speed up the process by making the movie even longer and adding Revenge of the Jedi to the end of it! The new mega-movie will be called Beware the Revenge of the Dark Side Jedi. After all, three-hour mega-movies are all the rage nowadays, right? Lord of the Rings? Avatar? King Kong? The actor who plays our very own Vision Man, Jon Boon, got married this week to Carrie Thomas. They were married March 18th, but the reception will be next week, March 27th. Many folks from Dramedy Productions will be there at the reception, so if you're an autograph seeker or a celebrity stalker, come on down!

Backgrounds to be added to Quest for Vengeance by rotoscoping the actors

The biggest regret about the production of Quest for Vengeance was that no bluescreen (or greenscreen) was used, which meant that the backgrounds couldn't be changed into something else, such as a spaceship interior or an alien planet exterior. Bluescreening was used during the first part of filming, but abandoned later on for some reason. (Probably because many of the rest of the film's scenes were shot in a room in Jay Chipman's house, and we don't think that he and his wife wanted us to put tacks in the wall to hold a blue sheet up.) But things are about to change! It's been decided that the film will be re-edited, and each actor in each scene will be rotoscoped so that a new background can be added! And to top it off, the rotoscoping will be done by Jay Chipman, Dylan Kinney, and Ted Millikan: the same team that promised to do all the rotoscoping of the lightsaber blades for the movie! Vision Man to begin appearing in DC comics

Vision Man is about to be bought by DC Comics! DC representatives contacted Dramedy Productions after seeing the movie "Vision Man: Eye Contact." They stated that they loved the film and loved the character. But the clincher for wanting to buy the character was when they found out that Vision Man was originally created for use in the DC Heroes Role-Playing Game. So it was just a natural fit for Vision Man to join the DC Universe! DC has also expressed interest in the other characters that were created for use in the RPG alongside Vision Man: namely, Darkshot, Lightning Hawk, and Zetaman. Obscure actors from Coruscant? to join Dramedy's other obscure actors in new movie

Ever heard of Adam Bertocci, Elizabeth Ascot, or David Ganssle? Neither have we! But they all three had small voice parts in Coruscant? Other than that, no one really knows anything about them. But that's about to change, when we release "Obscurica," the new major motion picture from Dramedy Productions. Around the time of Vision Man: Eye Contact and its trailer originally being released, there were certain minor things the filmmakers wanted changed about them, but the decision was made to go ahead and release the videos at the time as they were, with the intention of replacing them with "Special Editions" later. Shooting to resume this weekend

The greenscreen for the movie has been ready now for a few weeks. With a greenscreen, you can shoot actors in front of it, and then when you put the footage on a computer, you can delete the green background, and replace the background with anything you want! Quest for Vengeance to get a berth on TheForce.Net's Fan Films site

When the first trailer for QFV came out in 2001, we tried to get TheForce.Net to host it in their Fan Films section, but they wouldn't do it. Well, the other day, we decided to offer them the entire movie itself for submission, just to see what would happen...and they accepted it! "We wanted to continue the tradition of a live-action, two-hour-plus Star Wars movie coming out every three years, as has happened since 1999," said a spokesperson for TFN. "And since it's been three years since the last one, it was time for one this year. And QFV fits that bill!" We were all blown away by the acceptance. Now an even bigger audience can thrill to the insane-but-soft-voiced Lex Nova, the large and bumbling Jedibee Ben Wolf, the totally bad-ass Penzar Grat, the idiotic and moronic Robert Kraig, and the homoerotic overtones of Jon Bon Nebula. Coruscant? to have video added to it

Jay claims that when he first had the idea for Coruscant?, he wanted it to be live-action. Well, now Dramedy Productions has decided to do just that! The entire cast has decided to reunite for the LIVE-ACTION Coruscant?! Everyone will be back: Dylan, Ted, Tracy, Jay...even those other folks! But there's no need to waste the audio-only production of Coruscant?...the actors have just decided to film themselves lip-syncing their lines to the original production! The audio for the new parody will be exactly the same as the old parody...only this time there will be video of the actors lip-synching! (Hmmm...somebody needs to tell Jay that he played a battle droid. Guess he'll be squeezing into a tight-fitting battle droid costume! And Ted will be squeezing into a tight-fitting Obi-Wan costume!) Vision Man: the other commentary and another part of documentary filmed yesterday

Last month, on September 25, Ted M. Millikan and Tracy filmed the other commentary for Vision Man. (There was originally only going to be one commentary, but Jon and Ted could never get together at the same time, thus necessitating two commentaries.) Also on the same day, Ted filmed his part of the documentary.

Yesterday, Tracy journeyed to Dyersburg to Jon Boon & Donny's house to film one commentary for the movie and part of the documentary for the movie. Jon and Donny filmed their parts for the documentary, and Jon and Tracy filmed a commentary for the movie (with just a small contribution from Donny...he was feeling a bit under the weather). Ted M. Millikan was supposed to make the trip as well, but had to cancel out at the last minute because he said that his workplace told him at the last minute that he had to work. So Ted said that at a future date he will film his part of the documentary and will also film a separate commentary with Tracy.

Two Quest for Vengeance cast member lookalikes on reality TV this summer

There have been two lookalikes of Quest for Vengeance cast members on reality television shows this summer! One of them is on Big Brother 8, and he is currently one of the final four houseguests. He is also the current Head of Household. His name is Zach, and he looks just like Jay Chipman (or, rather, Jay Chipman with muscles)!

The second one was on Who Wants To Be a Superhero?, which just wrapped up its season last week. Hyper-Strike, who was my (Tracy's) personal favorite superhero on the show all season, looked just like Kevin Shelby! (But no, Kevin, it wasn't because he looked like you! Sorry!) He made it to the final episode last week and tied for second place in the competition!

And by a sheer coincidence, yesterday was the 30th anniversary of Star Wars, and going on right now, all Memorial Day weekend long, is Star Wars Celebration IV! So this is Dramedy's way of celebrating!

Two former cast members return!

Two former cast members have returned to BDS: Returner #1 and Returner #2! Returner #1 had originally left because he had gotten into a dispute with Jon, and then dragged Tracy into it even though Tracy had nothing to do with it! But Returner #1 finally admitted that he simply didn't like Jon. Not because of the dispute, but because of completely different reasons that have no bearing on the present day! Tracy tried to stay neutral in the entire episode, but Returner #1 tried to drag Tracy into it, and then got mad at Tracy for not doing anything and blamed him for everything even though Tracy had nothing to do with it! Tracy just couldn't believe that Returner #1 was acting that way! It was as if Returner #1 wasn't in control of his own actions! But now Returner #1 has apologized for all his mistakes and says that he is ready to help BDS in any way he can! He even says that he likes Jon now! As for Returner #2, his story is simple. He originally left BDS becasue Returner #1 did, even though he knew nothing about anything that was going on at all. He liked Returner #1, even though Returner #1 didn't like him (but Returner #2 refuses to believe that #1 doesn't like him). So, of course, when Returner #1 came back to BDS, Returner #2 decided to come back too! For more on these exciting developments, click here!

In various places around Dramedy Productions' websites, Vision Man has been spelled both as Vision Man and Visionman. On the actual movie itself, it is spelled Vision Man, but Visionman continues to be seen around some sites as well! So in order to settle the dispute, Vision Man will now be spelled Vision-Man! Quest for Vengeance lightsabers have FINALLY been finished rotoscoping!!!

If you've seen the movie, you know that only about half (or less) of QFV's lightsabers were rotoscoped. Jay Chipman, Dylan Kinney, and Ted Millikan all promised at one time or another to do a certain amount of rotoscoping. Dylan did a few scenes, Jay only did one scene, and Ted said he had done a little bit too, even though nobody ever saw it. I think he said his wife got mad at him and deleted what he had done. But anyway, none of them completely finished what they were supposed to. Until today! All three turned in one-third each of the movie's lightsabers, fully rotoscoped! And I have to say, they look great! Watch out for them on the Special Edition of QFV, coming soon to DVD and this website! For more of this glowing info, click here!

Sequel to "Coruscant?" to begin production; this one titled "Qui-Gon?"

When "Coruscant?" was being made, we had thought about making a sequel called "Qui-Gon?" We have decided that now's the time to make it! But it's not going to be some puny audio-only production...it's going to be live-action! Dylan Kinney will reprise his role as Qui-Gon Jinn, Ted Millikan will reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Tracy Walters will reprise his role as Sio Bibble, and Jay Chipman will reprise his role as the battle droid. Production resumes on Beware the Dark Side

After a delay of nearly two years (for various reasons), production has now resumed on Beware the Dark Side! Filming started up again last week, on March 4th. The shoot took place in Dyersburg, TN, and involved the characters of Ben Wolf and Elan Rai.

Principal photography on Vision Man has wrapped! This past Friday, June 9th, shooting took place in Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Gosnell, Arkansas. It turned out to be the last day of shooting, even though it was not originally planned to be. Things just worked out in our favor and we got ALL of shooting finished. June is already Super Month, what with Superman Returns coming out on the 28th, but it's also looking to be VISION Month as well!

As of today, all of the footage shot so far for Vision Man has now been edited down to a rough cut, and the fine cut of the movie has been started!

All of the footage shot so far for Vision Man has now been captured to the computer's hard disk for editing. The capturing had been delayed in recent weeks because the DV port on the camcorder failed, necessitating the acquisition of a new camcorder. Also, a new external hard drive was acquired to store the footage. Next step now for the movie: editing!!

Shooting resumes for a visionary flick

More shooting was done for the mighty Vision Man movie this weekend! Shooting took place yesterday and today. Most of the action that took place depicted an "ultimate showdown" at the end of the movie. With this weekend's shoot, the main bulk of Vision Man has now been captured!

Production has begun on Beware the Dark Side! The first day of shooting was Friday in Nashville, TN. There were four participants. Ted Millikan and Dylan Kinney returned to reprise their roles as Ben Wolf and Robert Kraig, respectively. Shannon Moore and Tracy Walters played Dark Jedi. (Tracy's Dark Jedi character will be familiar to viewers of Quest for Vengeance.) And by a complete coincidence, as with QFV, the first shoot was of multiple lightsaber duels!

Introducing Vision Man...the all-seeing super hero (well...almost all-seeing)

Vision Man is a movie based on a super hero created by Jon Boon. (Actually, the question of whether Vision Man is SUPER remains to be...uh...SEEN.) But anyway, he and Tracy Walters had an idea for a script, and Tracy finished the screenplay on March 6th. Shooting on the movie began last week. There will be more to come on this site in the near future, so SEE you then!
